Kinderuniversiteit

Fran, Ines C. and Lauren contributed to the Kinderuniversiteit (together with some colleagues of Michiels lab), where they hosted a hands-on workshop titled ‘The magic of microbiology’. During the session, children aged 8–13 explored the hidden world of bacteria through a series of playful experiments. They prepared their own agar growth medium using everyday supermarket ingredients, then sampled multiple surfaces to see where microbes occur. To introduce the concept of biofilms, the participants also created slime and tested just how robust it can be under different conditions.
